It’s amazing how difficult it is to say canopies when you mean canapés and even more confusing the other way round (and worse if what you really mean is a can o’ peas!)
Such were the problems with our delightful corporate guests last week who on arrival from London wanted the full champagne reception with forest inspired Dome Garden Canopies – there done it again – err canapés.
So we scoured the forest and then the garden and even went as far as the Wye for the fish – and then what fun we had in the kitchen!
But the best bit was that the 25 lawyers lapped it all up and came back for more. And that makes it all worthwhile.
Trio of Sausages (Gloucester, leek and apple, and asparagus and stilton) cooked in Forest Honey and mustard on a bed of baked potato tortillas topped with Forest of Dean chutneys and English mustard.
Toasted Dome Garden walnuts, blue Gloucester cheese and local honey slowly melting into warm blinis.
Smoked Wye salmon layered in herb pancakes with dill and chives from the garden, topped with Crème fraiche and Salmon Roe.
Aargh – it’s all too much. You should never write this stuff before lunch – at the risk of drooling over your keyboard.
Oops too late!
