This is Glamping Unscrambled

Strictly speaking, ‘glamping’ comes from a concoction  of the words ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’,  a superior ‘luxury camping’ experience way above the standard campsite.

But, let’s face it, it’s not a pretty word is it?  And there are side effects;  the spawning of variants like ‘to glamp’ and the catchall ‘glampsite’ makes you realise why it never existed before!

Other efforts included ‘camping 2.0’ – but no-one really understood what that referred to. ‘Camping with style’ is popular in South Africa, whilst in Germany ‘furnished camping’ seems to be on the up… Globally though ‘glamping’ is king with Ireland and the US now firmly on board.
